Introducing our new Traditional Flint & Steel Instructors Pack. Comprising of 5 x Classic ‘C’ Strikers (3 fingered Strikers), 5 good sized, easy to use chunks of Norfolk Flint, bags of suitable Tinders and a book of sulphur matches. This pack is aimed at Instructors who want to teach the traditional art of Flint & Steel and have all the basic Tinders included without breaking the bank!
The 'C' Strikers are the most common type of Strikers and our classic design is easy to hold and produces a good quality spark. Our high quality Norfolk Flint has been specially knapped so the edges are super sharp which is essential for successful Flint & Steel fire lighting. The flint chunks are good sizes, easy to hold for beginners and will give plenty of strikes when teaching.
We have included a 5g Bag of good quality Char Cloth, the most basic of all tinders and when Char Cloth has been mastered, the students can move onto Amadou, a more challenging tinder. We have also added in a good sized bag of Jute Tinder Down for Tinder Nests and a book of Sulphur matches. These are easier to use than the classic Sulphur Spills but will still give the students a taste of fire lighting the old fashioned way and will instil a sense of satisfaction that comes from using this phenomenal fire lighting technique.
The Instructors pack is aimed at Bushcraft Schools, Forest Schools, Scout Packs, Schools, Museums or anyone wishing to demonstrate at Shows and Events and have all the materials supplied in one handy box. We have kept the Tinders as natural as we can and included the type of Tinders that would have been used way back when. You can of course add your own Tinders.
Millennia before the development of the modern day match and lighter, the well-practiced hands of our forebears would have deftly used Flint & Steel for making fires in mere seconds. Making a fire with Flint & Steel is both traditional, a very dependable and, having been around for thousands of years, has well and truly stood the test of time, it has an honesty and simple elegance that is hard to beat. In recent years, there has been a huge resurgence in this long-established and reliable traditional fire lighting method, making it ideal for anyone who wishes to use a classic style traditional tinderbox for creating time-honoured spark based fires such as Re-enactment societies, Bushcraft enthusiast and Survivalists etc.
