Once in a while we like to create something that’s a little bit different, something with a bit of character. One of our limited sets featuring one of our hand crafted leather Belt Pouches with a matching leather cuff. The leather cuff also picks out the unique style of the Fire steel, giving this set a slightly romantic feel.  The leather Pouch and cuff have been hand dyed in a bright rich red tone. The set comes complete with its own mini Tinderbox with heart shaped traditional Fire Steel and full fire lighting kit. All these pieces can be used individually but also designed to all complement each other. The perfect gift for igniting someone’s passion. 

The Hand Crafted Belt Pouch

This beautifully hand crafted leather Belt Pouch has been made from the finest quality vegetable tanned 3.5mm (+/-) thick, soft, supple leather. A strong full-belt-loop has been stitched to the rear of the pouch so that it can be fitted to any belt that is up to 1-3/4 Inches wide. The internal dimensions of each Pouch measures approximately 100mm (4-inches) wide by 65mm (2 1/2-inches) deep by 25mm (1-inch) across. Although it comes with its own Tinderbox the Pouch can be used on its own for other small items.

 Fire Steels of this design are a simple variation on the classic ‘C’ shaped Fire Steels, but with the inclusion of a thicker ‘hump’ on the inside striking surface (the Belly) of the long side of the Steel. There is compelling evidence that suggests that this design originated from the Viking era, since many Fire Steels of this style with the ‘Hump’ have been found in Viking burial mounds. However we have tweaked this design and given it a new spin by incorporating a triskele cut out design.  The Triskele is very well-known Celtic design that goes way back to 500 BC. The Triskele is still extremely popular today as people still associate is as a powerful symbol. Although no one really knows the true meaning, some say it represents Power, Intellect and Love and others believe its Mind, Body and Soul.  

The Tinderbox is a classic 1oz Tobacco Tin in Matt Black and is made from a Steel Construction and has a rubber seal. It measures 80mm x 60mm x 20mm and contains enough Tinders to start you on your Fire Lighting Journey. You can of course add your own Tinders to it.

The Hand Crafted Leather Cuff 

This Viking styled leather cuff has been beautifully made in our own workshop and has been hand cut, hand dyed, embossed with a decorative heart pattern to pick out the shape of the heart shaped fire steel detail. This particular cuff has been hand dyed in the same shade of red as to match the leather Belt Pouch.

 The edges of the cuff have been skived for comfort and keeping up with the high quality that is expected from Beaver Bushcraft and Shark Designs. Our Leather Cuffs are made to last and we pride ourselves with using highest quality veg tanned leather. As these leather cuffs have been inspired by the 'old ways' we are not using modern press studs as a fastening but prefer to use a traditional thong lacing.  They are intended to be for all sexes and one size will fit all due to the lacing. We do recommend taking them off occasionally and if needed, a little polish with some neutral leather shoe polish.
