These Ovals are extremely easy to use, are ideal for teaching traditional fire lighting with and are excellent as an introduction level Flint & Steel striker, since they produces copius quantities of hot long lasting sparks. This style of Fire is well balanced and the weight and shape of this type of Fire Steel makes it easy to use with just a none to a modicum of experience, making it an exceptional Fire Steel for beginners upwards. 

Our Fire Steels have been specially designed to spark efficiently when using the correct striking technique, and that optimal spark generation can only really be achieved when using a new super sharp piece of flint, as well as some good quality, and dry tinder, such as Char Cloth, Amadou or Chaga.
