This Leather Kit allows you to make a genuine Beaver Bushcraft design and one of our most popular items. This simple kit comprises of a leather pattern of all the components you will need to make our very popular Hudson Bay Pioneering Pouch. We have done some of the work for you by printing the lines on the leather. All you need to do it is to cut it all out by following the lines, stamp out the holes and sew. It’s a very simple designed pouch that will allow you to sew, dye, tool a design on but we have provided you with the leather and the design. Now it’s over to you to have some fun and have a go!
You will need some basic tools such as a sharp knife to cut out the leather or a good pair of scissors, something to stamp out the stitching holes such as an awl or a punch. We have provided you with the needle and the artificial sinew/tiger thread. Although this particular version is for cross stitching, you can adapt it to suit your own style. You can use a classic cross stitch, a whip stitch or if you want to be creative, ditch the threads we have provided and have a go at using a thin leather lace or a coloured para cord for example, the choice is yours.
If you are going to dye the pouch or add some simple tooling, we do suggest your pre dye it before starting. If adding some tooling do be careful not to hammer the tools too hard or you will pierce the leather as it is quite soft.
The leather thong has been printed in a spiral, just follow the cutting lines. Just a tip that when you have finished cutting the thonging out, is to dampen it with some water and leave it to dry hanging up and then all the curl comes out. Then just cut to the length you need. We have ours long enough to wrap round the pouch several times to secure the pouch when it is full of Tinders etc.
Please note that we do not provide any of the tools for this ‘make your own kit’ but we have suggested a few to help you on your journey. The idea is for you to have some fun and be creative but with us providing you with the leather, the pattern, the design and the thread. For the full tutorial see our 'You Tube' Video below:

We got tagged into these photos from Buck ShotBill on Facebook, who made himself a few leather pieces from our range of Make Your Own Leather Kits. Have to say we were pretty impressed by the standard of his work!!!
