Pre Loved Brass Hudson Bay Tinderbox with Vintage Leather Pouch 

A limited edition 1930s Tinderbox with a beautifully hand cross stitched  vintage Leather  Pouch. Part of our range of vintage pre-loved tinderboxes by Beaver Bushcraft.

Once in a while we like to create something that is a little bit special. We have recently been collecting old Fire Steels, Tins and Tinderboxes for a new range of limited edition Fire Lighting Kits. Each tin will be different to each other as it will have its own unique patina. These tins will have an aged rustic patina, creating their own character. Perfect for re-enactors, bushcrafters, collectors or someone who wants something a little bit unique and maybe a possible heirloom for future generations.  We at Beaver Bushcraft are becoming more and well known for our old school style of leather work. We like to think of our work as timeless and that it captures that old pioneering spirit.

This special Limied Edition set includes a traditional shaped Fire Steel, a full fire lighting kit and one of our specaily hand stitched, hand dyed  Pouches made from vintage leather. The pouch has been hand cross stitched using an artificial sinew to give a real authentic rustic look. The handmade leather thong fastening is adjustable and hand tooled acorn detail. Together they make a little bit of history come back to life. The Tinder kit has been carefully selected to recapture the era but also to be practical. Although this is a limited edition piece is still designed to be used. The more you use it, the more loved it will look. Suitable for all Bushcrafters, budding Pioneers, re-enactors, LARPs enthusiasts, Cosplayers & anyone who loves making fire the traditional way.

A beautifully well preserved, antique ‘Art Deco’ Dutch naval snuff box from the 1930s era. Made from silver-plate metal. The box does have some age marks (one small noticeable mark on the bottom left) but also has the most beautiful natural aged patina. The snuff box is in good condition and the hinge works perfectly and shuts perfectly too. The snuff box is engraved "Holland America Line, 1st Class Only, SS Nieuw Amsterdam" to the top of the lid and is surrounded by an oval double line border. The snuff box has a hinged lid that simply lifts up and closes tight shut. Measures approx 90mm x 45mm x 20mm

A little bit of History of the S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam Liner from Wikipedia:
The was a Dutch ocean liner built in Rotterdam for the Holland America Line way back in 1905. This Nieuw Amsterdam, the second of four Holland America ships with that name, is considered by many to have been Holland America's finest ship. These special snuff boxes were a commemorative gift for the 1^st Class passengers.

Any patina, markings, age spots etc can be seen clearly in the photos. The photos have not been retouched in anyway. Sold as seen.

The traditional Fire steel has been beautifully crafted by Beaver Bushcraft and made in the UK. Our own brand of Fire Steels are easy to use and produce a high quality spark when used with a piece of spark Flint.  This kit contains all the items listed. The pouch has enough room so that you can add your own tinders to it. One side of the pouch is for the actual Tin and the other side is for your Tinder. You will see we have added a nice extra amount of Jute Down for helping to make your Jute Tinder Nests.
