We've been meaning to make some more of these.... the smaller version of our very popular 'Fire Storm'. This is 'The Stubby'.....and it comes complete with a scandi style neck sheath that has been hand dyed and hand stitched. Perfect for wearing whilst out on an outdoors adventure or even in the back garden for your BBQs. 

How it works

By blowing air directly onto your coals, old embers, air-starved smokers or even a BBQ that you want to become hotter, you simply take out your pocket Telescopic Pocket ‘Firestorm’ Blowpipe extend the tube up to its 480mm maximum length, place ‘Firestorm’ Blowpipe to your lips and the other end near the fire and simply blow life into your fire.

The Telescopic Pocket ‘Firestorm’ Blowpipe will become one of the most useful tools you will ever take with you on Bushcraft and Camping trips, or on your next BBQ. It can transform those all too common and frustrating, smouldering smokers that will not burst into a flame, making you gasp for air as the wind blows smoke into your face making you cough and splutter, whilst tears stream down your cheeks … all this will be a thing of the past. It takes only seconds for BBQ coals, or any embers for that matter, to burn orange hot. When the temperature significantly increases with the addition of a lungful of oxygen rich air a smouldering ember will begin to burn hot enough ignite all of those combustible gasses; the combustible gasses and or smoke, will spontaneously ignite into a Firestorm of flame. 

Safety

With a maximum extension of 480mm, your face is kept well clear of any heat or flames that are produced by the sudden influx of life giving air.

You will not be breathing in all those noxious fumes, smoke and carbon monoxide that are the norm when pushing your face to the embers and then madly blowing air at the base of the fire in the vain hopes of getting it to catch a flame.

You will not be getting a dose of ‘Campfire Red-Face’ as you attempt to spit roast yourself as you blow lungful after lungful of smoky air into the fire in a vain attempt to get it to catch a flame. Only then to be caught unawares, singing your eyebrows, beard and hair, if you have them, as the smoke sometimes catches a flame and bounce back into your face. 

Cleaning the embers

By blow hard and fast on your old ash laden embers you can blow them clean and get the heat radiating again. But be careful you don’t blow ash on your fellow campers - unless you want to see them with the worst case of dandruff … ever!!! (Seriously though, DO NOT BLOW ASH IN THE DIRECTION OF OTHERS. Hot ash can cause serious injury and unwanted fires if blown in the direction of other people and combustible materials.) 

Smelting Aluminium

A fun thing we often do is use our Telescopic Pocket ‘Firestorm’ Blowpipe to smelt old Aluminium drinks cans -  demonstrating just how hot it can actually make the embers. Place an aluminium drinks can on the fire, place a few embers on the can and blow; watch as the can melts into the embers and disappears. When this process is repeated several times a large puddle of molten aluminium will collect at the base of the fire. It can be collected the next day as a beautiful ingot of pure aluminium. Keep it as a memento of your trip or take it to the local scrap metal merchant and get paid for your efforts!

Leather Case

This leather neck sheath has been made specially for the 'Fire Storm' Blowpipe(Pocket Bellows). This style of case is designed to be worn round the neck for immediate use when your fire needs a bit of TLC. The Case is made from high quality Italian soft Leather and measures approx. 115mm in length. Please note only 1 x Fire Storm and 1 x leather neck sheath are included in this sale.

A Word of Warning!

If attempting to smelly metals such as aluminium, care should be taken not to breath in aluminium vapours back through the Telescopic Pocket ‘Firestorm’ Blowpipe. This can be done, in part, by placing the tongue over the end of the tube as you breathe in – or better still turn away from the fire upon each intake of air.
