Easy to hold due to the Leather edge binding that is riveted to the Fire Steel with solid brass rivets. This leather binding probably edge makes this style of striker one of our easiest to use. The riveted binding is made from high quality natural veg tanned leather that has been hand-dyed and finished with solid brass rivets. Also, the leather edge binding makes it much nicer to use and hold when your fingers are cold.

The leather binding tube that is created by the leather and striker, is large enough accommodate a standard sized modern Ferro Rod of about 9mm in diameter* also, this tube can be threaded with Paracord, or some Leather Lace (not supplied) if fancy wearing it as a pendant Striker.

*PLEASE NOTE: - Initially, the leather tube may feel like it is too small to allow a standard sized Ferro Rod to be pushed through. If this is the case then you can stretch the leather by thoroughly wetting it with warm water, and then pushing the Ferro Rod through the tube a few times, until it is as tight a fit as you require. Then let the leather striker dry.

The Leather Bound 3-Fingered Striker is used for traditional spark-based ‘Flint & Steel’ fire lighting. It has been specially designed to spark efficiently, and with a high spark yield, when using the correct striking technique against a new, super-sharp, piece of flint along with some good quality, and dry tinder, such as Char Cloth, Amadou or Chaga. The sparks that are generated, from the striker, will easily form an ember with the tinder, which can then be used to ignite a tinder bundle to flame for your campfire, candles, or pipe! This striker is an ideal size for keeping in a Tinderbox or popping into a Tinder Pouch. 

This style of Fire Steel is ideally suited for instructors, when teaching adults, or children, Traditional 'Flint& Steel' Fire Lighting, and is ideal for anyone who wants a more challenging spark-based fire lighting methodology, other than using a Ferrocerium Rod Striker. The balance, weight, and shape of this style of Fire Steel makes it an absolute doddle to use. It is an exceptional Fire Steel at any level of experience, and experienced users should get a shower of sparks on each and every strike.

We at Beaver Bushcraft designed all our strikers to withstand the rigors of accident and life. All of our strikers are robust and extremely tough, so that if accidentally dropped onto a hard surface the striker will not break, snap or shatter unlike most other strikers in the market.
